Women's History Month in South Jersey




Women’s History Month, celebrated every March, was officially recognized by Congress in 1987 to acknowledge the numerous contributions women have made to American history, culture, and society. Originating as a local celebration in the 1970s, it has expanded into a nationwide initiative to honor leadership, resilience, and strides toward equality. In South Jersey counties, events are being held to highlight local women and their influence. Use this opportunity to learn, connect, and support the programs occurring throughout the region listed below.



Atlantic

Power, Purpose & Positivity: Women's History Month with Meaghan B. Murphy

The Harriet Tubman Museum

Fridays and Saturdays from 11 AM – 3 PM, and Sundays from 2 – 3 PM

Check out The Harriet Tubman Museum, one of the most anticipated new museums in the country in 2020 and for good reason. The museum, set in a converted parsonage of a historically significant Black Methodist church, highlights the rich history of Cape May’s Black community, as well as, of course, Harriet Tubman’s efforts to free slaves while living in Cape May. The museum offers guided tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
