IMPORTANT FUNDING UPDATE

New Jersey Cultural Trust | FY 2027 Institutional/Financial Stabilization Grants for Arts Organizations | Alternating every other year with the New Jersey Historic Trust and the New Jersey Historical Commission, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts accepts applications and recommends grants to the New Jersey Cultural Trust for funding. For FY 2027, the Arts Council will accept applications from arts organizations for institutional and financial stabilization projects to recommend to the Cultural Trust for funding. In order to be eligible for the FY27 IFS Arts grant opportunity, organizations must first be designated qualified by the Cultural Trust. Organizations who are not currently designated qualified or whose qualification status will expire before January 2027 must submit a separate application for qualification by June 8, 2026 at 12 p.m. (noon). | Deadline: July 30, 2026 | More information and application.

AARP | AARP Purpose Prize | Purpose is a powerful force for good.  The Purpose Prize from AARP honors extraordinary older Americans who put their purpose into action to support AARP’s mission of empowering people to choose how they live as they age. Winners receive $75,000 and a year of organizational support from AARP to grow the impact of their nonprofits. It Gets Better: Changemakers | It Gets Better Changemakers Program | The It Gets Better Changemakers program funds projects led by LGBTQ+ young people to make their communities and schools safer, bolder, and more inclusive. The program partners with public and charter schools and nonprofits serving students aged 13 to 18 across the United States, with a particular interest in projects that support LGBTQ+ youth of color, trans and nonbinary youth, and LGBTQ+ youth with disabilities. Wish Local Empowerment Program | Small Business Grants for Black-Owned Retail Stores | The Wish Local Empowerment Program provides grants to support Black-owned brick-and-mortar retail businesses across the United States. The $2 million fund awards approximately 4,000 grants to help cover operating expenses such as workforce retention, rent, inventory, customer outreach, and community engagement. The program aims to promote equity and strengthen diversity in entrepreneurship. Robert and Joan Dircks Foundation | Innovative Programs for Vulnerable Populations in New Jersey | The Robert & Joan Dircks Foundation supports small nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in New Jersey. Funding prioritizes innovative programs that benefit children and individuals who are physically, mentally, or economically disadvantaged. The Foundation emphasizes projects that prevent or address problems rather than general operating support. Henry M. Jackson Foundation | Funding to Drive Policy on Leadership, Climate, and International Affairs | The Henry M. Jackson Foundation supports nonprofits and think tanks working on values-based leadership, climate change mitigation, and human rights and international relations. Strategic Initiative Grants may be used to fund forums, convenings, conferences, and public programs that bring experts together around policy issues. All Points North Foundation | Grants for Strengthening Public Middle School Education | The All Points North Foundation supports U.S.-based projects that strengthen public middle school education and teacher training in underserved urban and rural communities. Funding focuses on two priorities: programs that prepare and retain effective middle school teachers, and initiatives that support students' academic, social, and emotional growth. Amazon Web Services | Imagine Grant | The Amazon Web Services Imagine Grant supports registered nonprofits using cloud technology to accelerate their missions through pilot projects, proofs of concept, or expanded programs. Black Voices for Black Justice Fund | Unrestricted Grants for Black Leaders Advancing Racial Justice | The Black Voices for Black Justice Fund provides flexible, unrestricted grants to Black social entrepreneurs advancing racial justice across fields, including criminal justice reform, democracy, education, environmental justice, health equity, housing, and the arts. The Fund addresses historic underinvestment in Black-led organizations by elevating influential voices and backing initiatives that build economic and political power in communities affected by systemic racism. Citizens Bank Corporate Giving | Workforce Development Grants from Citizens Bank | Citizens Bank Corporate Giving supports nonprofit organizations in its communities through its Workforce Development program. Grants aim to help build the workforce of the future, with funding focusing on job training, career education, and career coaching programs. Department of Labor | Employment and Training Grants for Native American Communities | The Department of Labor's Indian and Native American Program supports employment and training activities for Native Americans by awarding grants to eligible entities for employment services, education and training assistance, and supportive services to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Eligible applicants include federally recognized Tribal governments, Native American Tribal organizations, and Native-led nonprofits, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian organizations. | Deadline: May 22, 2026 | More information and application.

Arts Organizations

National Endowment for the Arts | FY27 Grants for Arts Projects Guidelines Now Available | Guidelines and application materials for the National Endowment for the Arts’ principal grants category, Grants for Arts Projects, are now available. History & Humanities Organizations

National Endowment for the Humanities | Media Grants for Radio, Podcasts, and Documentary Films | The National Endowment for the Humanities offers Media Projects grants to support the development, production, and distribution of radio programs, podcasts, and documentary films. The program aims to engage broad audiences with humanities ideas through compelling and accessible storytelling. Funding is available at two levels: Development and Production. New Jersey Economic Development Authority | Historic Property Survey Grant Program | The Historic Property Survey Grant Program is a $400,000 pilot program that will provide grants up to $125,000 for the preparation of Historic Property Surveys throughout the state that include within the defined scope, properties located within a Government Restricted Municipality or that would be considered distress asset/s. Permanent Legacy Foundation | Permanent Legacy Byte4Byte Storage Grant Program | Digital archiving and long-term preservation shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for large, well-resourced institutions. The Permanent Legacy Foundation and their Byte4Byte storage grant program is designed to support grassroots historical, cultural, and collective memory archiving initiatives and organizations. Byte4Byte offers grants for organizations doing this work that can include free digital storage and internship stipends to help them reach their preservation goals. | Deadline: Rolling | Application information.

William G. Pomeroy Foundation | Hungry for History® Marker Grant Program | The Hungry for History® grant program celebrates America’s food history by telling the stories of local and regional food specialties across the United States. This program is designed to commemorate significant food dishes created prior to 1970 and the role they played in defining American culture and forging community identity. Hungry for History is intended to help communities nationwide put the spotlight on their renowned locally and regionally created food dishes with historic roadside markers. | Deadline to Submit Letter of Intent: October 2, 2026 | More information and application. 

William G. Pomeroy Foundation | Historic Transportation Marker Grant Program | Historic Transportation grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit academic institutions, and local, state and federal government entities within the United States. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact an eligible local organization, such as a municipal historian or historical organization. They will often apply for the grant on behalf of the individual. Historic Transportation markers must recognize a historical fact that occurred by 1945. After World War II, the United States saw a significant change in transportation with the increase in automobile ownership and the construction of the interstate highway system. William G. Pomeroy Foundation | National Register Signage Grant Program | Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit academic institutions, and local, state and federal government entities within the United States. Please note that signage is not available for private residences or commercial properties; only sites owned by the entities previously listed are eligible for National Register signage. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact an eligible local organization, such as a municipal historian or historical organization. National Endowment for the Humanities | Chairman’s Grants in Honor of America’s 250th Anniversary | In honor of the momentous occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the National Endowment for the Humanities is issuing a call for proposals for Celebrate America!, a new initiative to recognize the nation’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.
