Funding

New Jersey Cultural Trust | FY 2027 Institutional/Financial Stabilization Grants for Arts Organizations | Alternating every other year with the New Jersey Historic Trust and the New Jersey Historical Commission, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts accepts applications and recommends grants to the New Jersey Cultural Trust for funding. For FY 2027, the Arts Council will accept applications from arts organizations for institutional and financial stabilization projects to recommend to the Cultural Trust for funding. In order to be eligible for the FY27 IFS Arts grant opportunity, organizations must first be designated qualified by the Cultural Trust. Horizon Foundation for New Jersey | 2026 Arts & Community Health Request for Proposals | The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey (The Foundation) has opened an RFP under its Creating Pillar to promote the powerful role the arts can play in improving health. The arts is an effective tool for conveying health messaging and encouraging healthy behaviors within a community. Our goal is to support new and innovative arts programs to help empower our members and the communities we serve to achieve their best health. New Jersey Economic Development Authority | RETROFIT NJ Grant Program | The Reducing Emissions through Retrofits, Optimization, Fuel-switching, and Innovative Technologies (RETROFIT NJ) Grant Program is a $75 million pilot program launched by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to provide financial assistance to multi-pronged, large-scale retrofit projects that enable holistic energy improvements at buildings, campuses, and multi-building facilities. | Deadline: Ongoing | More information and application.

Wish Local Empowerment Program | Small Business Grants for Black-Owned Retail Stores | The Wish Local Empowerment Program provides grants to support Black-owned brick-and-mortar retail businesses across the United States. The $2 million fund awards approximately 4,000 grants to help cover operating expenses such as workforce retention, rent, inventory, customer outreach, and community engagement. The program aims to promote equity and strengthen diversity in entrepreneurship. ACM Lifting Lives | Supporting Healing Through Music Therapy Programs | ACM Lifting Lives supports nonprofit organizations throughout the United States, increasing access to music therapy programs. Funding priorities include clinical music therapy in hospices, hospitals, and care-centered environments, therapeutic interventions in schools and for military members and veterans, and mental health services for touring professionals, songwriters, and other music industry workers. | Deadline: August 7, 2026 | More information and application.

History & Humanities Organizations

Permanent Legacy Foundation | Permanent Legacy Byte4Byte Storage Grant Program | Digital archiving and long-term preservation shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for large, well-resourced institutions. The Permanent Legacy Foundation and their Byte4Byte storage grant program is designed to support grassroots historical, cultural, and collective memory archiving initiatives and organizations. Byte4Byte offers grants for organizations doing this work that can include free digital storage and internship stipends to help them reach their preservation goals. | Deadline: Rolling | Application information.

William G. Pomeroy Foundation | Hungry for History® Marker Grant Program | The Hungry for History® grant program celebrates America’s food history by telling the stories of local and regional food specialties across the United States. This program is designed to commemorate significant food dishes created prior to 1970 and the role they played in defining American culture and forging community identity. Hungry for History is intended to help communities nationwide put the spotlight on their renowned locally and regionally created food dishes with historic roadside markers. | Deadline to Submit Letter of Intent: October 2, 2026 | More information and application. 

William G. Pomeroy Foundation | Historic Transportation Marker Grant Program | Historic Transportation grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit academic institutions, and local, state and federal government entities within the United States. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact an eligible local organization, such as a municipal historian or historical organization. They will often apply for the grant on behalf of the individual. Historic Transportation markers must recognize a historical fact that occurred by 1945. After World War II, the United States saw a significant change in transportation with the increase in automobile ownership and the construction of the interstate highway system. We seek to commemorate the way in which goods and people were transported prior to these transformative events. | Deadline: October 2, 2026 | More information and application.

Pomeroy Foundation | National Register Signage Grant Program | Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit academic institutions, and local, state and federal government entities within the United States. Please note that signage is not available for private residences or commercial properties; only sites owned by the entities previously listed are eligible for National Register signage. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact an eligible local organization, such as a municipal historian or historical organization. National Endowment for the Humanities | Chairman’s Grants in Honor of America’s 250th Anniversary | In honor of the momentous occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the National Endowment for the Humanities is issuing a call for proposals for Celebrate America!, a new initiative to recognize the nation’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.
