Through this program, ASLD hosts a Visiting Artist who identifies as Black, Indigenous, and/or a person of color for a 6-9 month long residency. The residency offers the artist access to dedicated studio space at ASLD; the opportunity to lead workshops, lectures, and community engagement programs; and culminates with a solo exhibition of work created throughout the residency. 

Each residency is tailored to the artist’s expertise and discipline. Selected artists lead workshops specific to themes and issues of importance to Black, Indigenous, and/or people of color and other underrepresented communities. Selected artists have a dedicated 900 sq ft studio at the Art Students League of Denver for the duration of their residency. The studio can be equipped with equipment appropriate to the resident artist’s practice (necessary equipment is covered by ASLD as part of our grant funding for this project). Artist has access to classes and instruction offered at ASLD.  Artists will receive a monthly stipend to cover housing and living expenses as well as studio materials. The budget for housing costs and living expenses is determined based on Denver market rates at the time of the residency. Staff is available to assist with securing housing if desired. The 2023 Harold Morton Landon Translation Award is a $1,000 award recognizing a poetry collection translated from any language into English and published in the previous calendar year. Established in 1976, it is given annually. A noted translator chooses the winning book.

Submissions are accepted from September 15, 2022 through February 15, 2023 (11:59 p.m. Eastern Time). The 2022 Harold Morton Landon Translation Award will be judged by Anna Deeny Morales.

The National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowships program offers $25,000 grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable the recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement. 

This program operates on a two-year cycle with fellowships in prose and poetry available in alternating years. In 2023 we will be accepting applications in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction).

"Works on Paper" 2023 is the 25th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but are not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand-pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung. The Juror will select 65 artworks to display in our spacious Gallery.

AWARDS: $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize and three honorable mentions.

Objective
To help connect current New Jersey composers with supportive presenters of music in New Jersey through commissioning and realizing new work.  

Eligibility
Any individual or group desiring to commission and present a new work of concert music in New Jersey by a composer who currently lives and/or works and/or studies in New Jersey.

Description
Each collaboration involves a grant to a New Jersey composer to create a new work for the presenter coupled with a grant to the presenter to help defray the cost of the performance, as illustrated in the list of recent grants below. Presenters are expected to choose a qualifying composer for the commission from a short list provided by CGNJ distilled from responses to an open call administered by CGNJ. The commissioned composer shall grant CGNJ the unrestricted right, without royalty, to non-commercial use of a score and recording of the commissioned composition, but shall retain all other rights to the composition, including copyright and royalties.

Native Launchpad 2023 Application Guidelines

Native Launchpad is the cornerstone program of Advancing Indigenous Performance (AIP), Western Arts Alliance’s national initiative to create new touring and presentation opportunities for US-based Indigenous performing artists.

Native Launchpad provides Indigenous artists with tools and resources needed to further their careers and introduce them to the world of arts presenting and management. Native Launchpad helps create opportunity and sustainability for individual Native artists through financial support, professional development opportunities, strategic promotions and networking. Each awardee will receive direct financial and travel support, mentoring/coaching, career development and promotional benefits, valued at $40,000, over three years.

Four (4) Native Launchpad Artists will be selected by a panel of Indigenous performing arts professionals from across the country. In addition, a cohort of up to five AIP Associate Artists will be invited to access professional development and networking resources through the program.

About 300 artists in seven disciplines are awarded Fellowships each year and the sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. There are no residency fees. Need-based travel grants and stipends are available to open the residency experience to the broadest possible community of artists. Artists with professional standing in their fields, as well as emerging artists, are eligible to apply. MacDowell encourages artists from all backgrounds and all countries in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. Any applicant whose proposed project does not fall clearly within one of these artistic disciplines should contact the admissions department for guidance. We aim to be inclusive, not exclusive in our admissions process.

WheatonArts is excited to announce a two-month summer internship in our Glass Studio. Designed for emerging artists pursuing or having recently completed an undergraduate degree in glass, this competitive internship provides professional experience in a museum setting. Interns can be expected to assist with WheatonArts studio production, public classes, and studio technician classes, averaging 25-30 hours per week.
