The U.S. 250th anniversary, coming up in 2026, is a crucial opportunity to engage the public in the full sweep of American history. But for many history doers, this is easier said than done. How do you interpret the U.S. 250th at your site or organization, especially if you don’t have an obvious connection to the Revolutionary era? Even if you do have a clear tie to the Revolution, how do you make that history relevant to your audiences? The AASLH is hosting a three-part webinar series that will offer best practices in interpretive planning, connections to fieldwide themes for the 250th, and the chance to find inspiration and workshop ideas with fellow practitioners. Attendees can choose to attend one session, two, or all three of the series.

Nominations will be reviewed by a panel and selected organizations will be notified no later than Friday, June 9, 2023. Awards will be announced at the Excellence in Cultural Access Awards on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

In this all-new session, veteran grantmaker Maryn Boess puts on her grantmaker hat and shares some straight talk about asking for, getting, and making sense of funder feedback. Creative Glass Fellowships provide artists with an exceptional opportunity for artistic exploration in a supportive, respectful, and welcoming environment. During their Fellowships, artists have the use of excellent facilities within a concentrated time. This is a remarkable opportunity for artists to utilize the internationally respected WheatonArts Glass Studio. Not only do artists get access to these facilities and various process mediums, but they also receive stipends, the use of private studios, most materials, technical assistance, comfortable housing, and institutional support. In addition, they are embraced by a dedicated and warm staff, all on a beautiful 45+ acre campus that is truly a creative sanctuary.

Selections will be made on specific artwork. Any acceptance in a show is based on the works you originally submitted. Because we curate the shows to work cohesively, we do not accept substitutions for unavailable work. Please know we will do our best to notify you of your acceptance or rejection in a timely fashion so as not to tie up your work; however, we expect that the piece you submit will be available from the point of acceptance through the close of the show. If a piece you submitted is no longer available, that is fine, but we are unable to accept a different work in its place. Please bear this in mind when submitting.

The Foundation Art Festival (FAF 2023) is a juried Makers retail show, curated by our Arts & Exhibition Committee. We look for unique products that promote the mission of the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences.We are looking for artists who create handmade, original work. Seasoned or new artisans that create unique, high quality handmade products are encouraged to apply. However, we are open to products that are designed by the artist & produced in small quantities within the continental U.S. All mediums are welcome.
