Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission |2024 Annual Senior Citizen Juried Art Exhibition Open Call | The Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Camden County College invites artists age 60 and older who currently reside in Camden County to submit their original work to the 58th annual Senior Citizens Juried Art Contest and Exhibition. The show will be held in person in Cherry Hill at Camden County College’s William G. Rohrer Center - 1889 Rt. 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003. Artists at any level of skill or experience are invited to participate, including amateurs and non-professionals as well as working artists. Artists may submit one entry that has been created within the past three years, is an original creation of the artist, and has not been submitted previously to a county or state art show. Categories of work include acrylic painting, craft, digital art, mixed media, oil painting, pastel, print, photography, sculpture, watercolor, and works on paper (drawing). Artwork will be judged by an independent panel of art professionals. First-place winners in all categories will advance to compete at the state level in the New Jersey Senior Citizens Art Show. D.C. Gallery & Studio | Call for Sculpture | DC Gallery & Studio is seeking 10 sculptural artworks to feature in our new backyard sculpture garden. Selected sculptures will be on view yearly from May through October. Sculptures may be for sale or on loan. Works should be 3-10 feet in overall size. Stockton University | Writing Novels for Young Readers Online Workshop | June 28 - August 2, 2024, Led by Eric Bell. How do you successfully capture the experiences of a child or teenager? In this course, we'll study writing fundamentals of the "young person's novel," such as characterization, setting, plot and voice through a kidlit-centered lens. We'll read and discuss current middle grade (intended for ages 8-12) and young adult (intended for ages 12+) novels and analyze why they work so well. Weekly generative prompts will inspire you whether you're just beginning your kidlit adventure, or you're already working on a piece and want to hone it further. Garden State Play Festival | Call for Submissions | Plays in all styles and traditions that center around social justice (locally, nationally, or globally) will be considered. Social Justice can mean many things so we encourage playwrights to think broadly, individually, and personally around this topic. There are no residency restrictions on submissions, but playwrights will be expected to be in-person in Jersey City on a number of occasions between October 2024 and May 2025.
