- New Jersey Historical Commission | FY2025 Project Grant Guidelines Release | The New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) is now accepting Declarations of Intent (DOI) to apply for its annual Project Grant program. Applicants can ask for up to $20,000 for eligible New Jersey history proposals. This includes, but is not limited to, research, conservation of historical materials, educational initiatives, editorial and publication projects, exhibitions, media, public programs, and capacity building. For FY 2025, a 1-year pilot initiative will allow prospective applicants with organizational budgets of at least $50,000 to apply directly to the NJHC for project grant support. This is a decrease from the traditional $100,000 threshold of previous years. This budget figure should be based on income received for the applicant’s most recently completed fiscal year. | Guidelines | Declarations of Intent (DOIs) to Apply are due by 3pm on March 8, 2024. - Support Strengthens Stringed Instrument Music Programs for Children | Classics for Kids Foundation | Application deadline: Applications are reviewed quarterly; the upcoming deadline is March 31, 2024. | Description: The mission of Classics for Kids Foundation is to empower young people to shape positive futures through music, build sustainable stringed instrument music programs, and provide grants for high-quality instruments. The Foundation provides matching grants to schools and nonprofit organizations serving children kindergarten through grade 12 in the United States, with a focus on at-risk and rural youth. The grants support up to 50% of the total cost to purchase fine stringed instruments, including those from the violin family, guitars, and ukuleles.
- Grants Address Needs in Company Communities | Walmart Spark Good Local Grants | Application deadline: Applications are accepted quarterly during the following periods: March 1 to April 15, May 1 to July 15, August 1 to October 15, and November 1 to December 31, 2024.| Geographic scope: Communities with Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, and distribution centers | Grant amount: $250 to $5,000 | Description: Walmart’s Spark Good Local Grants aim to address the unique needs of the communities where Walmart operates in the United States. Grants are provided to organizations that operate locally and directly benefit the service area of local facilities in U.S. communities where Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, and distribution centers are located. Grants support a variety of organizations, such as animal shelters, elder services, and community clean-up projects. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; state or local government entities, including law enforcement or fire departments; K-12 public or nonprofit private schools, charter schools, and higher education institutions; and churches or other faith-based organizations with a proposed project that benefits the community at large, such as food pantries, soup kitchens, and clothing closets.
- AARP | AARP Community Challenge | The AARP Community Challenge provides small grants to fund quick-action projects that can help communities in the United States become more livable for people of all ages—especially those age 50 and older. In 2024, the AARP Community Challenge will accept applications for three grant opportunities: Flagship Grants of $500 to $50,000 focus on improving vibrant public places, transportation and mobility, housing, digital connections, community resilience, and community health and economic empowerment. Capacity-Building Microgrants of $2,500 plus additional resources support bike audit, HomeFit® modification, and walk audit projects. Demonstration Grants, usually in the range of $10,000 to $20,000, support projects that encourage the replication of promising efforts in digital connectivity to prepare and respond to disasters, equitable engagement to reconnect communities divided by infrastructure, and housing choice design competitions. Nonprofit organizations and government entities may apply. Other organizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. | Application deadline: March 6, 2024
- Investors Foundation | Grants Enhance Community Initiatives in NJ and the NYC Area | Investors Foundation is dedicated to supporting impactful initiatives of diverse community organizations in communities the former Investors Bank served, including New Jersey and New York City and Long Island in New York. Areas of interest include arts, education, health and human services, youth, and affordable housing. | Application deadlines: February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1, annually | Geographic scope: New Jersey and New York City and Long Island, NY
- Performing Arts Readiness | Network Grants | Grants of up to $7250 will be awarded to 24 performing arts organizations to create individual, institutional emergency preparedness or Continuity of Operations (CoOP) plans. | Rolling Deadline: submit between August 1, 2023 and March 1, 2024.
