Making Space for Everyone: Peto Museum Wins Excellence in Cultural Access Innovation Recognition
On May 29, during the Cultural Access Summit at Grounds for Sculpture, SJCA Executive Director Julie Hain will present the Excellence in Cultural Access Innovation Award to the Peto Museum for their incredible efforts to welcome visitors of all abilities.
The award is part of the work of the Cultural Access Network (CAN), led by the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, which helps cultural organizations make their programs more welcoming to all. Julie Hain proudly serves on the CAN Steering Committee to make sure South Jersey voices help shape these efforts statewide.
John F. Peto Studio Museum's upgrades are inspiring, especially for a small, historic museum. They’ve installed a chair lift in their 1890s building, created braille guides, added audio tools, and designed inclusive programs that serve people with a wide range of access needs.
These changes don’t just meet a checklist—they invite more people in, and that’s what cultural access is all about.
You can find the Peto Museum and other inclusive arts spaces on SJCA’s Cultural Asset Map and the South Jersey Culture Trail mobile app. Whether you're a resident or visitor, these tools make it easy to explore arts and history experiences designed with you in mind.
Help us celebrate the Peto Museum and the power of inclusion in the arts.
