The Camden County Historical Society (CCHS) has been the repository of artifacts since 1899, providing a library, museum and historic mansion to celebrate Camden County's history and educate its residents, including the children of Camden County.

The facilities of the CCHS provide the opportunity to explore the rich heritage of the region it serves. Visitors to CCHS can research a myriad of historical subjects, including their own family's history in the Library. They can take a walk back into the 18th Century with a tour of Pomona Hall and follow that with a stroll through our county museum that includes exhibits on the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, Lenape Indians, RCA and New York Shipbuilding.

Cultural Education at the Historical Society

The Camden County Historical Society's educational programs have been specifically created to assist schools in meeting or exceeding the New Jersey State Core Curriculum Content Standards for Social Studies. Programs include a tour of Pomona Hall, an 18th-century Cooper residence and two-story museum; Open Hearth cooking demonstrations and Spinning demonstrations. Suitcase Programs are provided in classrooms throughout the region and include : Colonial LIfe in Camden County; Colonial Life and Spinning; Slavery and the Udnerground Railroad in Camden County and The Industrialization, Decline and Revitalization of Camden. In addition a hands-on Traveling Trunk is available to be delivered to classrooms and filled with artifacts of yesteryear to be touched and handled. Teacher Prep Materials are available and programming is core-curriculum-based.

Group Tours at the Historical Society

Visit Camden County Historical Society and experience the county's past. Tour Pomona Hall, the 18th-century home of the Cooper Family. Explore our two-story museum, and find exhibits of that include the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, fire fighting, RCA, New York Shipbuilding, a one-room school house and much, much more.

All group tours can be combined with an Open Hearth Cooking demonstration and/or Spinning demonstration.
