The Sustainable Washington Township Creative Team is pleased to announce the Summer 2021 exhibit at our outdoor gallery in Washington Lake Park. We are now accepting submissions from local and regional amateur and professional artists. Submitted artwork will be reviewed and selected for exhibit by a committee of artists and art advocates from the Washington Township community.
The Gallery in the Park is an outdoor installation located at the Amphitheater in Washington Lake Park, and is a central venue in our Painting the Town Project. The exhibit will open in August 2021, and will remain in place through Summer and into the Fall, to be viewed by visitors to the largest municipal park in New Jersey. The Park is the site of community festivals, concerts, entertainment and recreation events, and is frequented by thousands of individuals seeking leisure enjoyment outdoors. Washington Lake Park is located at 626 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell, NJ.
The theme for the exhibit is “Home.” Many scenarios may evoke a sense of home, such as a family gathering or a home town visit; a young bird’s nest or a fox’s den; a childhood memory, a summer garden, a favorite meal or even a familiar scent. We invite artists 18 years of age and older to submit images that depict some interpretation of home, or that evoke a “feeling” of home.
Selected images will be printed on weather-proof panels and hung along a paved walkway in the Amphitheater, visible to participants in Park events as well as casual strollers.* You may wish to visit our Facebook page here to see photos from a previous exhibit.
Images created in two-dimensional media are acceptable, including painting, drawing and photography. All images should be submitted as high-resolution digital files. File resolution must be sufficient to provide clear, undistorted images when they are enlarged and printed for display. Preference is for files in TIF (TIFF) format, having a density of 240 dpi, and with color space sRGB.
Please provide the following information with your submitted artwork:
• artist’s name and town of residence
• a brief artist’s statement (not to exceed 50 words)
• contact and website/Facebook/Instagram information, if available
• title, medium and dimensions of original artwork, and
• sale price (or NFS)
Please submit entries (limit of 3 per artist) by July 26, 2021, to [email protected] (write “Gallery in the Park” in the subject line). Artists will be notified of the committee’s decisions by August 4, 2021.
The exhibit is supported in part by the South Jersey Cultural Alliance and Ocean First Bank.

* Please note that the Sustainable Washington Township Creative Team intends to display the gallery panels as a mobile gallery in the future. If we wish to exhibit an artist’s work in a different venue, we will notify the artist.
