GIA’s Racial Equity workshops have been designed to help participants recognize that cultural funding is a system that has been historically racialized like so many societal systems and to help guide our approaches to re-designing cultural funding as an anti-racist system.

GIA offers two racial equity workshops for arts grantmakers: grounding and advancing:

The GIA Racial Equity in Arts Funding workshop is grounding and includes information on the history of racialization in the United States, the history of cultural funding, and real-world stories of success and examples of racial equity funding, strategies, and resources you may bring with you back to your organizations.

The Pro-BIPOC Arts Funding Community of Practice workshop is advancing, building on concepts and practices from the first. It is intentionally designed to be more dialogic, focused on building a community of practice between participants as they design or re-design their funding to be anti-racist. This workshop is most appropriate for those who have already participated in GIA’s Racial Equity in Arts Funding workshop; have already participated in racial equity, racial justice, or anti-racist trainings; or have experience designing or redesigning their funding to be anti-racist.

Finding the Keys is a workshop experience designed to give you real life recruitment and hiring solutions that can be applied across industries. There are no excuses. This is a unique opportunity to roll up your sleeves and do the work with one of the nation's leading subject matter experts.

She has utilized antiracist approaches to assist in identifying, selecting, and on-boarding diverse candidate pools. Her recruitment strategies have been used by Fortune 100 corporations and arts organizations across the country. Her well known call to active recruitment "Finding the Keys" has inspired new recruitment approaches and strategies for organizations around the nation.

The Arts Professional Learning Institute (APLI) is a co-sponsored project of Young Audiences Arts for Learning NJ & Eastern PA, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. Museum Assessment Program (MAP) application process: Confirm your museum is eligible to participate. Review MAP costs, process and schedule and ensure your museum has the staff time, resources, capacity, and buy-in to undertake a year-long assessment. Choose your Assessment Type and verify that you meet any special additional eligibility requirements. Read the Application FAQs and use the links included to download the Sample Application to use for planning and drafting your responses to application questions. The Application FAQs also include access to the Official Online Application Form. You will enter your contact information and then receive a link to the full online application via email. You will then be able to complete sections of the application, save them, and then return to the application later by clicking the “Save” button at the bottom of each page. By clicking this button, you will be able to save your information and receive a unique link to return to that page in the application later to finish it. After submitting a completed application, you will receive a confirmation email. If you have any difficulties completing the application, please contact MAP staff at map@aam-us.org or 202-289-9118. Applications will be accepted September 2022 through February 1, 2023. Look for an email notification of acceptance status 30-45 days after the application deadline.

Compass’s DEI Cohorts are designed for nonprofit CEOs/Executive Directors who are committed to moving their organizations forward on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
