The Ritz Theatre Company

www.ritztheatreco.org

Discover the magic of live theater at the historic Ritz Theatre. From critically acclaimed mainstage productions to the unique and Emmy Ward winning performances of Ritzy the Wolf, the Ritz Theatre is South Jersey's professional theater destination!

Exciting dramas, comedy's,  musicals and children's productions take the stage each month. The Ritz also presents family holiday shows, summer theater camp, dramatic workshops and outreach programs. The theater building's Gallery at the Ritz mounts monthly art exhibitions.

The Ritz Theatre was built to enchant theatergoers in 1927 and has been a continual fixture of cultural entertainment for the past 80 years. The Vaudeville shows and silent movies of the 20’s gave way to talkies in the 30’s.  By the 50’s and 60’s, foreign and fine art films had replaced the popular films of the 40’s, a striking contrast to the porn films which followed in the 70’s.

In 1985, the Ritz returned to live theatre when Puttin’on the Ritz, Inc., a production company led by Producing Artistic Director Bruce A. Curless, took over.  His goal was to return this historic theatre to its place as the focal point of fine entertainment in South Jersey. The Ritz dedicated its commitment to South Jersey with the purchase of this historic 1927 Vaudeville Theatre building.  In 2002, The Ritz Theatre was placed on the New Jersey and National Registries of Historic Places and changed its name from Puttin’ On The Ritz to The Ritz Theatre Company, Inc.
