Lunch & Learn: Roses from the Forest to the Garden

February 14 @ 12:30 pm

Join us for lunch on Valentine’s Day. Drew Lehrian is coming to talk with us about the roses in our gardens, and identify native roses that can be seen in South Jersey.

Drew Lehrian is the Head Gardener for the Barnes Foundation, overseeing the Arboretum Department. He is responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the living collection and has been working for the Foundation since May of 2010. He is a 2009 Graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture, where he majored in Landscape Horticulture and minored in Agribusiness.

Prior to his work for the Barnes Foundation, Drew was a Research Assistant at the Ornamental Plant Germplasm Center (OPGC) which is a part of the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service. The OPGC’s primary role is to conserve and develop germplasm of value for the Floriculture and Nursery Industry. They currently hold over 3,200 accessions. Drew also worked for the Ohio Seed Improvement Association, Mason City Schools, Kings Island Amusement Park, and Longwood Gardens.

Bring your lunch to Perkins Center, Moorestown on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12:30pm – 1:30pm for a free cultural conversation.

This series of conversations will feature culturally focused lectures designed to connect and introduce anyone with the desire to explore topics of interest in South Jersey.
