Fresh For All: Philabundance at Rowan

November 30, 2018 @ 10:00 am - April 26, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

Free fresh fruits and vegetables will be available to the Glassboro and Rowan University communities every Friday through a new Philabundance location on Rowan’s campus.

Through its Fresh For All program, Philabundance will offer a free produce market on Fridays from 10-11 a.m. in Parking Lot D at the corner of Bowe Boulevard and Carpenter Street.

The program begins on Oct. 26 and will operate year-round, rain or shine. Due to Rowan’s closure for Thanksgiving, Fresh For All will not be available on Nov. 23. There could be additional closures in the future for extreme weather conditions.

The Philabundance distribution site replaces the site formerly at Glassboro’s VFW post, which closed Oct. 17.

To receive fruits and vegetables, area residents do not need to show identification, but they should bring their own bags or boxes. Participation in the program does not affect government benefits.

Produce that is not distributed will be taken to The SHOP (Students Helping Other Profs), the food pantry to assist Rowan students. The SHOP is located in the Rowan Boulevard Apartments and will provide remaining fruits and vegetables to students each Friday from noon-3 p.m.

Philabundance is the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization, distributing food to 90,000 people weekly across nine counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Founded in 1984, the non-profit organization is a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks leading the fight against hunger across the U.S.
