First Day Hike: Beat The Winter Blues at Whitesbog

Meet 10 AM at the General Store – finish by 1 PM

Come join us for a fun morning of exploration and recreation! On our recently completed hiking trails you can wander as far and wide as your heart desires. Amazing discoveries can be found at both ½ mile, at 5 miles and everything in between. Let your curiosity and your feet lead the way!

Leaders in nature studies and historic reference will be on hand to share stimulating information about Whitesbog Village and the NJ Pine Barrens.

Save the end of the day for a pot-luck social in the Barrel Factory. Bring a snack to share if you plan to remain with us after the hike.

Degree of difficulty: Easy to moderate

Age restrictions: Children 10 and over with a responsible adult are welcome

Animals: Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome

What to wear and bring: Wear sturdy footgear and weather appropriate clothing. Conditions are often windy and cold if you are walking on the open bog roads during winter. Suggested bring-
alongs include binoculars, cameras, walking stick, back pack, snacks and water.

You’ll be treated to LIVE walking talking guides on the hike. Field references will also be available for you to read through after the hike.

Cancellations: Hike will be cancelled for floods, locusts, plague, earthquake….. actually only rain or ice will force a cancellation of the event. Decision to cancel will be made by 3 PM on 12/31. I will
