EXHIBIT: 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Assassination

The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey will present an exhibit that explores the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was shot on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Tennessee.

The exhibit marks the 50th anniversary of the civil rights leader’s death and will be on view fromApril 4th to July 31st in the Dr. Martin Luther King Center, 661 Jackson Road in Newtonville.

One hundred pieces of memorabilia collected since the 1963 March on Washington will be on display. The exhibit is curated from the museum’s extensive collection which includes publications, photographs and commemorative artwork featuring the nationally revered civil rights icon and his campaign for peace and justice.

Ralph Hunter, President and Founder of the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey, believes that public interest will be especially heightened on the anniversary of King’s death.
