Karen Chigounis is the Director of ARTS Education and Collingswood Gallery Curator at Perkins Center for the Arts located in Moorestown and Collingswood, NJ.
Chigounis was an art teacher before becoming Curator of Exhibitions and Programs for the Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission and Hopkins House Gallery. During this time she organized regional artists into the Network of Visual Artists (NOVA), a support organization designed to address major issues of concern and interest relating to artists lives and work. Chigounis has a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in Photography with a minor in Printmaking, an Art Teacher Certification and a Masters of Science in Arts and Cultural Management. As an arts administrator her primary mission is to provide opportunities for artists to work in arts residencies and to show their work in exhibition; an important aspect of our cultural sustainability.
Chigounis is a working artist as well as frequent juror and independent curator for exhibitions in the Philadelphia/New Jersey region.
